The Alien carries a 90-position numbered collar with the brew methods marked on the dial itself, and runs 20 to 25 full grinds between charges.

You land on the setting, not near it: 90 numbered positions on the adjustment collar, with the brew ranges printed on the dial, French press sits between 65 and 90.

A charge lasts a trip, not a morning: SIMELO rates the Alien at 20 to 25 full-power grinds per charge, with no cord and no outlet.

Press once and walk away: one-click start with an automatic stop at the end of the grind, and an indicator light that reads running, charging or fully charged.

One dose, into a cup that lifts off: 15 g of beans, ground in about 38 seconds, into a removable catching cup.

Who this is for, and who it isn't

A good fit if you want a grinder for travel, an office or a campsite that still lets you set a grind precisely rather than approximately, and you brew one 15 g dose at a time.

Look elsewhere if you brew for two at once, because 15 g is a single cup and the machine is built to stop there. If you want espresso, because SIMELO does not state that this model grinds fine enough for it, and we are not going to assume it does. And if you need the burr diameter, the motor power, the battery capacity or the weight before you commit. SIMELO publishes none of them. Every figure on this page was read off the manufacturer's own product photography, because that is the only documentation this grinder has. We say so in the Specifications rather than let the page imply otherwise.
